Coupon Policies

One of the most important things to be knowledgeable about as a couponer is the coupon policy at any store you shop at.  Here is a quick rundown of the policies at my favorite stores, and some links to others.  It makes for good practice to print out the policies for the stores you shop at the most, so that you can pull it out if you end up getting a cashier who will not honor your coupons.

Weis Markets
Ok, so I was one who used to always drive by Weis and wonder if it was even worth shopping at.  After we bought our house in November, Weis is now our closest grocery store.  After shopping there, I can't believe I always passed it by.  Their coupon policy seems to be one of the best around, and their prices tend to be lower than their competitors.
Call your local weis for specifics on their coupon policy.  I know at mine, they will double coupons up to 99 cents with no limit.
Here's a link to their coupon policy so that you can print it out if you'd like:

Martins Foods
The link I supply here is for Martins foods outside of Virginia.  If you're in Virginia, go to their website yourself to make sure that you have the correct policy.
I know Martins boasts that they double coupons, but be careful.  I know in my store they will only double coupons up to 99 cents, with a limit of 4 per transaction.

Walmart
Walmart's policy makes it typically a great place to shop, because they will not only price match from a competitor's ad, but they will also allow competitor's coupons (with exceptions of course).  Again, make sure you print out their policy, and read it carefully.  They're very specific in what types of coupons they will and will not take, and remember, they do not double coupons at all.

Food Lion
Food Lion is not a store that I typically shop at, but we have several of them around, so here's a link to their policy as well: http://www.foodlion.com/assets/docs/customerService/CouponPolicy_Food%20Lion.pdf

Target
What I love about Target is that they have their own bank of coupons that you can stack with manufacturer's coupons.  So if you have a Target coupon for one item and a manufacturer's coupon for the same item, you can use both.  Coupon policy: http://www.target.com/HelpContent?help=/sites/html/TargetOnline/help/promotions_sweepstakes_and_discounts/target_coupon_policy/target_coupon_policy.html
